Main Thrusts of the ANOCA Programme

Laying the Foundation of an Ambitious Sport Policy

  • Development of a data-bank

Develop a reference center of African Sport - such is the mission ANOCA has assigned to itself over the next years.

In this connection, ANOCA will make use of information technology to develop a data bank (statistics, pictures, video) for sports competitions organised across the continent.

In this way, the sporting careers of African athletes will be easily monitored and serve as a bench mark for revamping the sporting sector of the continent.

Regularly updated, such data could be accessed by the media and press agencies to give added value to their commentaries and reports.

  • Training and Further Training Clinics

Organised yearly as part of the ANOCA Games, these clinics will target a board-based group: technical and administrative officials, sports administrators and leaders, event organisers, experts in marketing, communication and IT.

Success Opportunities for the Young

  • Identification of young talents

An ambitious and broad-based talent identification driven policy for Olympic hopefuls will be launched by NOCs in partnership with sports confederations and ministries of sport and national education.

In this perspective, a three pronged action will be developed: physical aptitude, counselling and initiation, sport excellence.

  • Regional performance training centers for athletic hopefuls

These centers whose creation will be partially funded by ANOCA will offer athletic hopefuls identified at ANOCA Games training opportunities in Africa under the best possible conditions.

  • Participation in African Championships

As part of their participation in continental championships, the cost of international travel for Olympic hopefuls will be borne by ANOCA.

Rewardind Sport-related Initiatives

  • Creation of an Olympic initiative award.

Each year-three awards coupled with prize money will be conferred in each development zone.

They will reward:

  1. Innovative sport development projects,
  2. Initiatives to boot women sport and the access of women to xecutive positions in the world of sport,
  3. Projects for disabled sport,
  4. Programmes on the reintegration in active life of high performance athletes at the en of their sporting career.
  • ANOCA Distinguished Awards

Distinguished awards will be conferred on the “shakers and movers” of sports in Africa and on those who also promote Olympic values be they athletes, administrators or coaches.
